When you wish for something, you are unknowingly reinforcing not having what you want.
Instead of wishing for something, envision yourself already having that which you want.
See yourself enjoying it.
Use all of your senses and make it as real as possible. Feel the gratitude, especially.
When you are finished, ask for this or something better to unfold.
What you want will come to you much easier and faster.

You may know the dance like nobody’s watching quote, but today I have a dance like nobody’s watching story.
Dance Like Nobody’s Watching Story
It’s best to imagine it as you read this.
I’m sitting upstairs doing a bit of writing on my laptop.
I hear loud music begin playing outside.
At first I try to just ignore it but I start wondering who is playing music this loud out front?
So, out of the window and I see a Fedex or Amazon truck, not sure, and a young girl delivering a package.
The driver’s side door is wide open into the street and the music, dance music, is blasting.
The home she was delivering the package to has a clear and all glass front door.
Just inside the door, their dog, a sort of Boxer-Pit Bill mix.
Then the young girl delivered the package and started dancing for the dog who sat there with a dumb, confused look on his face.
“What are you doing, woof?”
The music was full throttle and so was she. I mean, she was really shaking it – dancing like nobody’s watching.
Steadily watching her, the dog sat there entertained in doggie disbelief.
Suddenly the dog’s owner came to the door and startled the unexpectant, dancing delivery driver.
She turned and ran back to her truck.
Laughing at the whole event, I thought that’s the way to do it.
Dance Like Nobody’s Watching Quote
The whole dance like nobody’s watching quote is attributed to songwriters Susanna Clark and Richard Leigh for the song “Come from the Heart” and goes like this:
You’ve got to sing like you don’t need the money
Love like you’ll never get hurt
You’ve got to dance like nobody’s watchin’
It’s gotta come from the heart if you want it to work.
Controversy surrounds the quote as others have subsequently changed, added and inverted some lines, then used and credited as the originator. Read this to learn more.
Regardless, the point is that dancing like nobody’s watching makes you feel amazingly in tune with your essential self.
Most, rarely if ever, get to experience their essential self. Even if only for a brief moment.
Most people spend their entire life never knowing their essential, true, higher self.

Every year about this time there is a shit ton of conflicting information being published about how to achieve your goals.
So, I’m going to briefly discuss goal setting then share two points of note to help you decide the best use of your time and energy for 2020.
Know What You Want
First, you are always told your goals must be clearly defined, actionable, realistic and measurable. True enough.
It is absolutely critical to creating the life that you want that you know what you want.
If I asked a hundred people off the street what it is that they want in life, only a small percentage would be able to immediately answer.
And, you not only need to know, but you need to be able to visualize it happening. More on this later…
So, I’m not against goal setting, but I prefer the phrase know what you want. It sounds like less work and more fun.
If you like fun, then I recommend reading The Secret to Happiness.
Also, knowing what you want implies a connection to your essential self and your intrinsic desires. Knowing what you want implies that you know what makes your heart sing. Otherwise, if you achieve your goal, it won’t bring you joy.
I’d also like to highlight the importance of visualization. If what you visualize makes you feel “good”, then it’s likely a worthy goal.
So, my point is that you mustn’t just set goals but you must know – truly – what it is that you want.
Change Your Mind
Not changing your mind is what dooms goal setting to failure.
If you think and believe that which you always have, you’ll only act a certain way for a brief time before falling back into the same patterns and ultimately getting the same results.
It’s critically important to achieving success to find the thoughts and beliefs that are preventing you from achieving your goals, eliminate and replace them with thoughts and beliefs that will help you achieve your goals.
If you change your mind correctly, you can not only achieve your goals but accelerate your achievements.
Specifically, I’m talking about programming you subconscious beliefs for success.

The other day I wrote about emotional intelligence in my Santa Miracle story but didn’t call it that. I basically explained it as finding the positive in what appears to be a bad situation.
I attended the Government Mule concert the other night in Philly and had an incident.
The usher had put us in the wrong seats. I was sitting a row in front of my sister and her husband. My sister complained that the row behind her, which was separated by a 2″ x 6″ ledge was a disaster waiting to happen. Food spillage was her concern.
When we got the seats straightened out, I sat in front of the food spillage disaster ledge and her and her husband were sitting in front of me.
The concert started. Government Mule’s headlining band was really good and we were all enjoying ourselves.
Then I reached back and felt my chair and butt which turned out to be covered with ketchup smothered sliders.
I turned to the people behind me who placed their leftovers on the precarious and lipless ledge and said “really”.
How mad could I be? My sister predicted it and the ledge was definitely a design fail.
I showed the girl who was paying attention to me my chair and told her my sister predicted this.
My sister, by the way, laughed hysterically the whole time.
The girl was really kind – very pretty – and apologetic. She remarked about how well I was handling the fact I was wearing someone’s dinner.
I told her that anger wouldn’t unspill it and we cleaned up the mess. She wiped the chair and I wiped my butt. Someone got me a new chair.
Benefits of Emotional Intelligence
My luck immediately turned for the better as the chair was a stool and I could see better; the next song was Shakedown Street, which is one of my favorites; I talked with the pretty girl and her friends who were really nice and no more food was spilled on me the rest of the night.
And best yet, the pretty girl bought me a beer!
Therefore, having some emotional intelligence saved me from having a miserable night and hurting myself by self destructively pointing anger at others and got me some free beer.
How to Get Emotional Intelligence

I recently wrote about the benefits of meditation and today I thought I’d flip the coin and discuss the negative effects of meditation.
Here’s my take away on the several articles that I read…
They all discussed the possibility of experiencing negative side effects like, nausea, headaches, hallucinations and amplifies emotional problems.
A Critical Meditation Distinction
In my over 20 years of meditation, I never experienced any negative physical side effects. However, I did experience what I may describe as hallucinations while meditating; seeing colors and light with movement.
I wouldn’t say that I experienced amplified emotional problems, but emotions do become more obvious.
That leads me to the important distinction that seemed to be missing from each of the articles I read.
That distinction is that meditation is conscious non thinking. So, if you are perceiving an emotion, a hallucination, a headache as a problem, then you are not meditating. You are thinking.
The problem arises from a deficiency in our language. We understand meditation as a doing when in fact it is exactly the opposite.
We confuse meditation with meditation techniques.
Meditation is less the problem and the problem has more to do with the meditation technique being used.
By the way, one of the articles was relatively clear about this, but the others, not so much…
Meditation, as I stated earlier is conscious, non thinking. Meditations, meditating and doing meditation describe techniques to assist you in becoming meditative; or again, conscious but without thought.
So, in my opinion, which wasn’t clear in any of the article I read is this; Meditation, if you are conscious and not thinking, has very few if any negative effects.
You may get cramps, but that’s not meditations fault, it’s your position or duration.
My point is conscious non thinking is never the problem, it’s almost always something else.
How to Overcome the Negative Side Effects of Meditation
Also in my opinion, the most common problem is the meditator having the wrong meditation technique for their unique experience and personality.
This why having a coach, someone who has practiced meditation for years and years is so valuable.
A coach can also address another common side effect of meditation, and that is the dealing with confusion, stuck and misinterpretations. This is the negative mental side of meditation and how anxiety, depression and amplified emotional issues come into play.
Overcoming your ego and the unhealthy, ineffective and self destructive thoughts, beliefs and convictions we all have is part of the process. But, like I did and you may too when you go it alone, you may go down some “wrong” paths that keep you stuck and suffering. Occasionally, problems become exacerbated.

Opportunity to Self Realize
When you meditate, you become more conscious and begin to dis-identify with your ego.
As you become conscious, you realize your essential, eternal and “true” self (sometimes called your higher self) then begin feeling whole, complete, at ease, confident and in control.
Feeling incomplete, conflicted, like something is missing, broken or just not right is caused by not knowing your essential self.
Meditation is the best way to reveal your true self and self realize.
Ability Master Your Mind
When you become conscious you gain the ability to master your mind and end stress, struggle and suffering. That’s the second major benefit of meditation.
What causes all the stress, struggle and suffering in your life is your un-mastered mind. And, you cannot master your mind without being conscious.
So, meditation is the best way to be conscious and master your mind.
Ability to Consciously Create Your Reality
As you become conscious and master your mind, you gain the the third major benefit of meditation: the ability to consciously create any reality you wish.
Therefore, unwanted people, circumstances and experiences are a result of not consciously creating your reality. Life will seem beyond your control and negative things will happen to you. You are a victim of life, but more accurately, a victim of not consciously creating.
When you master your mind, you control what you think, believe, feel, create and attract.
When you consciously create, your needs and wants are quickly and effortlessly fulfilled.
Meditation is the best way to increase consciousness and create your best life.

Invitation to Join the Movement
Meditation, the last and fourth step of the 4 steps of thinking.
These important clues will probably make more sense as we talk about meditation and other metaphysical subtleties.
Meditation is like the conscious off button for your mind.
Meditation is conscious non thinking.
If you stopped thinking but were NOT conscious, you’d be unconscious, dead or hypnotized.
It is extremely import to recognize the importance of being conscious. Seriously, I just wrote that.
BTW, hypnosis has its uses, but consciousness is where it’s at.
Actually, and it took me years to figure this out, but, consciousness is the answer, solution, cure and XXXX to everything.
Don’t believe me? Try contemplating it until you are able to disprove it. : )
Anyhow, before I move on, I’d like to mention another extremely notable point about meditation. And that is that increases your energy, it restores your body and mind and opens you up to accessing the infinite power and intelligence of the universe.
Right! It’s really powerful stuff.

The third step of the four steps of thinking is concentration.
Have you ever been yelled at by a parent or other authority figure to “concentrate”?
Has anyone ever taught you how to concentrate or about concentration?
You’d think someone would have made sure we knew and understand what it is and how to do it before yelling at us.
So, let me clue you to some details about concentration that you were never taught.
And, BTW, the reason I’m pointing out what may seem a bit obvious here is because it becomes critical to understand some of the more subtle points when and if you want to master your mind.
Concentration is when you consciously focus to a single point.
Your thoughts aren’t allowed to move beyond or off of that point. It isn’t thinking or contemplation.
Concentration takes increased consciousness and wastes less energy than freestyle thinking and contemplation.
I’m sure, hopefully, you’ve attempted concentration before?
So, let me quickly summarize the first 3 steps of thinking. Freestyle thinking, as I call it, is unbound, arbitrary, lacks focus and conscious control and wastes energy. Contemplation is consciously focused and constrained by boundaries and wastes less energy than freestyle thinking. Concentration is thought consciously focused to a single point and wastes less energy than freestyle thinking and contemplation. They all, so far, require movement and time.
That leads to the final step of thinking which is actually not thinking. But, I’ll get in to that soon enough…

Did you know that there are 4 steps of thinking that you should have been taught?
Have you ever even thought about thinking? It’s probably the last thing on your mind, huh?
It seems crazy to me that something we do all day everyday is so thoroughly ignored and misunderstood.
I mean, shouldn’t we have been taught how to think in, let’s say, first grade – if not sooner?
NOTE: This series of posts about the 4 steps of thinking contains useful information about the minding process that we all should have been taught and does not contain a bunch of established, useless, scientific, psychological bullshit (nor does this blog).
Anyway, it is what it is. But, that’s part of why I started this blog and career; because it took me sooooo many years of research and meditation to discover much of what I wish to share.
So, the first of the 4 steps of thinking is just normal thinking. I like to call it “freestyle thinking” because it differentiates it from the other steps of thinking and sounds much better that “drunken monkey mind thinking”.
Freestyle thinking is characterized by its lack of focus, direction and most importantly lack of conscious control.
It is also characterized by its immense waste of energy.
Other important points of note are that it involves movement and time (you’ll see the importance in later posts).
Because you are extremely familiar with freestyle thinking and everything becomes much clearer when you understand the other three steps, I won’t beat this dead horse anymore.

Are you tired from your drunken monkey mind going 90 mph 24/7?
Monkey mind is a Chinese or Buddhist term used to describe an “unsettled; restless; capricious; whimsical; fanciful; inconstant; confused; indecisive; uncontrollable” mind, according to Wikipedia.
Absolutely! We all know what it is.
And why does this stupid monkey mind seem to be nocturnal? Go to sleep dammit!
Furthermore, most people suffer with drunken monkey mind their entire life and never learn how to control or stop it.
However, the solution is simple, consciously turn off your mind and you’ll have peace. Plus, you’ll also experience joy from your newly found freedom.
How to consciously turn it off you mind is something you were probably never taught; if you are like me and most everyone else.
So, if you don’t know how to stop it, then you are doomed to continue suffering with the noise, activity and the other pains of an un-mastered mind like feeling crappy, uninvited and unintended problems and unfulfilled goals, dreams and desires.
Above all, you don’t want spend your life like that, do you?
Of course not! So, do something about it…

Meditate! That’s how you learn to control the beast. And, with practice it gets easy.

Overcoming loneliness can seem like a difficult task, but it’s really not; when you know how…
The first step to overcoming loneliness is gaining a little bit of knowledge about how and why you feel lonely in the first place.
It’s important to note that chronic thoughts become your beliefs. So, if you believe something deep down, you will feel the effects of that belief on a continuous basis.
What that amounts to is that if you don’t like what you feel, then simply replace your beliefs and current thinking with something better.
By better I mean thoughts and beliefs that empower you and make you feel good.
The Secret To Overcoming Loneliness
The feeling of loneliness comes from thoughts and beliefs that you are separate. Which isn’t true. You are, and everything is, in fact, connected.
It seems just the opposite because of your beliefs. We, as humans, were mostly, incorrectly, taught to see things as separate.
When you were a baby, maybe your parents showed you a ball and said “ball”. This went on and on throughout your early development until you saw everything as separate.
And, today, there is relatively no one teaching how to make things whole.
Your mind labels and divides everything, among other activities, but it doesn’t put things whole unless you make it.
The process of making it is called self mastery and the process for making things whole is called synthesis.
The key to self mastery and synthesis is consciousness. When you become conscious, you will stop unnecessarily dividing everything and you will start seeing everything as whole and connected. Also, among other things.
You will also use your mind correctly, as a tool to solve problems instead of your mind being the master (keep reading).
When you consciously see everything as whole and connected you will no longer feel separate and alone. You will never feel lonely again.
And, if and when you do feel loneliness again, you’ll know how to simply change your thinking or find the source, which may be a belief, and fix it.
Therefore, the secret to overcoming loneliness is to consciously change your thinking and beliefs that you are separate to thoughts and beliefs that you are connected.
Simple enough, huh?
Thoughts of Separation
Now that you know why you feel loneliness, you need to be able to recognize thoughts of separation.
Let me say first, you’ll get better at this with practice. It will become easy and effortless.
The more obvious thoughts and beliefs that cause division and separation are race, nationalism and ideologies.
If you have strong race, nation or ideological beliefs you will likely never want to be alone. And, if you are alone you’ll surely want the TV or radio on.
Any thoughts and beliefs about being different cause division, separation and a feeling of being alone. Examples include, “I’m better than you because XYZ”, “Everyone else is good at XYX”, etc. They cause separation.
Surprisingly to me when I first learned, thoughts and beliefs that you are special also cause a lonely feeling. My mom told me I was special, but I’m not. I’m a unique expression of my source, but I’m not special; or more or less important or different than anyone else. We are all equally important and the same!
Also to note, depending on which thoughts and beliefs and how strongly you are attached to them, will determine how lonely you feel.
The deeper, more attached beliefs will cause you to feel the most lonely, while thoughts that you are special may not even be noticed.
5 Second Mind Hack
So, you are probably thinking “Tell me already, what is the simple 5 second mind hack for overcoming loneliness?”
Now that you know why you feel lonely, I’m sure you want to remove or replace the causes. Seems obvious, no?
First, I recommend tackling your current thoughts (I’ll eventually create a post for how to quickly and easily find and replace negative and disempowering beliefs).
So, here is the simple 5 second mind hack…
Basically, what you will be doing is reprogramming your mind through conscious repetition. This will change some of your beliefs and decrease the chances of you creating the same lonely feelings again.
Anytime you notice yourself thinking a thought of separation, immediately say to yourself; “No, that is not correct (you can use other words like empowering or helpful instead of correct). That thought (or belief) causes separation and I know I am not separate and I am connected to everyone and everything.
The trick is to be aware of your thinking and immediately correct the negative, disempowering, unhelpful, unwanted thoughts.
Overcome Any Unwanted Emotion
You can use this technique, not just to overcome loneliness, but to overcome any and every negative, low vibrational emotion you don’t want to feel.
Remove and replace all your negative, disempowering, self-defeating, unnecessary thoughts and beliefs and you will feel divine.
Also notable, you should talk to yourself kindly and lovingly. For most effectiveness, talk to yourself like you would to a child; with forgiveness and without judgement.
Additionally; the entity, for lack of a better word, who is noticing your thoughts and beliefs, that is your essential self. That is who you truly are. And as you become greater and greater, you will, hopefully, take control of your mind totally and be the master.
That is what you are ultimately working towards; self-mastery, authenticity and fulfilling your true purpose and potential.
That is what happens when you master your mind…
How to Accelerate Your Results
If you’d like to accelerate your results, you have two options:
- Make conscious your subconscious. You may have powerful subconscious beliefs that are sabotaging your conscious efforts. Meditation is a great tool for this. Simply go inside, find what you believe and then change it to a more empowering belief (I will soon be writing a more detailed post, so stay tuned).
- Get personalized support and coaching. Everything above is doable by everybody but personal support and coaching can accelerate your results dramatically. It’s also really nice, and convenient to have someone to get you through and over the tough spots.

First, I need to lay the groundwork. A few pieces of understanding for the foundation.
One, there are no problems. Everything that happens in your life happens to make you conscious. That’s a good thing, not a problem.
So, don’t fight where you are…
Actually, it’s in your best interest to not mentally fight anything; simply except and forgive and you’ll immediately drop a lot of stress and anguish; and change your life for the better.
You may think that’s trite and/or possibly that just a mind shift won’t change much of anything.
You may be right (you’re not) but would likely be missing the underlying subtleties. : )
Your reality is a reflection of that which you have thought.
Chronic patterns of thought are called beliefs and both conscious and subconscious beliefs are the powerful creators of your reality.
Yes, I know there’s a huge debate about conscious, unconscious and subconscious. I’ll save my input for another day, as I disagree with many professionals (comment below if you want my understanding from 20 plus years of meditation and research; I’ll comment sooner than later).
So, if you change your thinking, your reality will change and you’ll change your life for the better.
The Trick to Changing Your Life for the Better
It’s very easy and anyone can do it. But there is a kinda “trick”.
The “trick” is actually the solution to everything; all problems forever…
The trick is that you have to become conscious.
Therefore, consciousness is the solution to all problems.
Now, if you are thinking anything but “I just received the keys to the universe”, then you are not grasping the full impact of what I just gave you.
It took me years and years of studying, research, observation, meditation and my own self work before I acquired that understanding.
So, I ask you to contemplate if consciousness is the solution to all problems.
Is that true? How could that be true?
Just so you know, what I did was I just planted a seed in your mind. And, if you do contemplate it, it will grow and you will become more conscious, and the more conscious you become, the more you’ll change your life for the better.
If you do nothing, the seed wont grow and flower. You’ll continue suffering with life and your mind until you consciously decide to do something.
So, the first step to change your life for the better, permanently forever, is to decide to change it by following a path of consciousness.
Since you are reading this post, I’ll assume you have already decided to change your life. You have taken action to find a solution, so you must have…

The next step, then, is to start down that internal path to become conscious.
How to be Conscious
Your next question should be about how to be conscious.
As I see it, you have several simple choices.
- Pay attention to your thinking. Attention is the baby stage of consciousness. Consciousness is the witnessing of your thinking (another big clue). Start by noticing the positive and empowering thoughts vs. the negative and dis-empowering thoughts.
- Take up meditation. Get a book or watch meditation videos on YouTube would be a great first step. At first it seems really hard but stick with it. It’s like lifting weights for your mind. It gets easier with practice
- Continue reading this blog as I’ll be sharing more subtle insights including how to remove those unwanted negative, dis-empowering thoughts and reprogram your mind with positive, empowering thoughts; and more tips and insights to raise consciousness.
What is really important right now is that you have decided to change your path. Take some time to contemplate consciousness being the solution to all problems or take some action on one of the above steps.
The consequence of becoming conscious is peace, joy and bliss because when you become master of your mind, you control what and how you feel.
And, the more conscious you become the more you will understand and appreciate feeling good. Then you will always choose the ease of conscious thinking and feeling good over effort, pain and struggle of unconscious thinking.
To wrap this post up, if you are thinking that I didn’t give you the solution to more time, money and freedom, I did. There is no problem that consciousness doesn’t solve. Period!
If you ever think you have come across a problem that can’t be solved by consciousness, simply contemplate it for awhile or meditate on it and you’ll find that it will.

Be aware though, true freedom is freedom from the burdens of your mind.
